Today, in response to the Biden-Harris administration’s announcement of Supreme Court reform proposals, Accountable.US president Caroline Ciccone released the following statement:

President Biden’s Supreme Court reforms are a critical solution to an urgent ethics crisis. Between the Justices’ cozy relationships with billionaires and special interests and the Court’s failures to disclose luxury travel and unusual perks from wealthy benefactors, public trust in the Supreme Court is at an all-time low.
We applaud the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to curb corruption at the nation’s high court and look forward to ensuring that the Supreme Court serves everyday Americans and not their wealthy pals or special interests.”

Accountable.US has been calling for action and reform in the face of the growing corruption crisis at the Supreme Court. Accountable.US also spearheaded a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts rallying over 40 watchdog and accountability organizations demanding he ensure conflicted justices recuse themselves from key cases.

Previously, Accountable.US endorsed the Supreme Court Ethics Recusal and Transparency Act (SCERT Act), the High Court Gift Ban Act, the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act, and the Supreme Court Biennial Appointments and Term Limits Act (TERM Act)– all critical steps toward Supreme Court accountability.
