In a recently revealed Project 2025 training video, the organization’s members are advised to discuss and make decisions in person, rather than through written communications, with an explicit urge for future conservative staffers to evade laws that may require public disclosure of their communications. The Heritage Foundation has gone from openly bragging about Project 2025 to deliberately telling potential employees in a future conservative administration to conceal internal communications.

In a presentation to Project 2025, American Accountability Foundation President Tom Jones specifically warned, “You know the adage we hear a lot now is like, wow, this meeting could have been an email…What you probably want to do, is if you need to resolve something…it’s probably better to walk down the hall, button hole a guy and say hey, what are we going to do here? Talk through the decision, work it out. If you reduce it to writing, maybe you can protect it under some of these exemptions but man, that’s a lot of a fight. You’re probably better off going down to the canteen, getting a cup of coffee, talking it through and making the decision as opposed to sending him an email and creating a thread that Accountable.US or one of those other groups is going to come back and seek, and you’re going to have to explain why you’re withholding it and you’re going to fight in court, it’s going to be a lot of expense. It’s an email that’s better resolved by a meeting.”

The video, obtained by ProPublica and Documented, provides further evidence of the internal culture of secret-keeping and deception at Project 2025. Dead-set on pushing forward an unpopular agenda that limits Americans’ freedoms, Project 2025 has refused to release their 180-page playbook, which 38 members of Congress, led by co-founders of the Stop Project 2025 Task Force Reps. Jared Huffman (CA-02) and Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), called on Project 2025 to disclose. Project 2025 leader, Kevin Roberts, delayed the release of his book after significant nationwide criticism of his leaked manuscript. And now, the group is strategizing how to move forward an extreme agenda without transparency, accountability, or oversight and we know why. As Accountable.US polling has shown, the more people learn about Project 2025 the less they like it.

This video is just another example of their complete disregard for the American people. Project 2025 thinks they can impose their agenda to gut checks and balances, consolidate their power and take away our freedoms under the radar. They can’t. If they think the only way to enact an agenda is to do it in secret, then maybe they need to rethink their agenda.
