REPORT: Groups Spending Big To Shape SCOTUS Spent Millions Funding Insurrectionists and Entities That Pushed Trump’s Big Lie
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, government watchdog Accountable.US released a report showing the groups spending big to shape the U.S. Supreme Court also gave millions to entities pushing Trump’s “Big Lie” about the 2020 election and the January 6 insurrection.
It should worry us all that the groups leading the fight against Biden’s historic nomination of Judge Jackson to the Supreme Court are tied to the January 6th insurrection and efforts to undermine confidence in the 2020 election. With American institutions and our democracy itself under constant attack from every direction, the importance of Judge Jackson's swift and successful confirmation cannot be overstated.”
Kyle Herrig, president of government watchdog Accountable.US
The report also shows the Judicial Crisis Network spent a total of $37 million to confirm Trump’s Supreme Court nominees—averaging $12.3 million per nominee.
As Salon reported this morning, “A second report from Accountable.US raised questions about ties between Leo’s network and Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is set to hold hearings on Jackson’s nomination later this month.”
