PA State Senator Pushes for AZ-Style 2020 Election Audit Scam
Forbes: “Republican county officials in Pennsylvania’s Tioga County called Tuesday for a Republican state senator leading a potentially costly election audit to stop his investigation and let them “get back to work,” as state Sen. Doug Mastriano ramps up his efforts to subpoena voting machines and election materials”
Accountable.US: “Anyone who believes the Arizona audit circus was something to be admired or replicated has lost all touch with reality. Mastriano should focus on delivering for his constituents and quit telling them fairy tales in his quest to undermine democracy”
“Doug Mastriano is so desperate to curry favor with the twice-impeached, disgraced former president that he’s willing to stake his reputation on a sham ‘audit,’” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US. “Anyone who believes the Arizona audit circus was something to be admired or replicated has lost all touch with reality. Mastriano should focus on delivering for his constituents and quit telling them fairy tales in his quest to undermine democracy.”
Three Tioga county commissioners went after Mastriano directly, calling on him to “withdraw his demands and to let responsible Republicans get back to work.” This isn’t the first time Mastriano has been admonished for his anti-democratic actions: he was asked to resign by colleagues in the Pennsylvania Senate, as well as non-profit Common Cause Pennsylvania.
Mastriano has a long history of trying to appease the former president by perpetuating the Big Lie and other debunked election conspiracy theories. He attended the “Stop the Steal” rally and the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, and encouraged his supporters to attend the rally, using his own campaign funds to pay for buses to shuttle people from Pennsylvania to the nation’s Capitol.
