WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Labor Department reported 353,000 new jobs today, but today’s reported growth does not protect Americans from corporate-driven inflation and price-gouging.

Even with strong job growth and great news on the economy, corporate price-gouging means prices are too high for too many. Our economy can’t continue to grow if struggling families are hampered with hidden fees inflating their bills, and corporations keeping prices high just to make a buck.”

Accountable.US’ Liz Zelnick.

In December, a national survey commissioned by government watchdog Accountable.US found that many Americans believe excessive corporate price hikes are a major driver of inflation and higher costs. 60% of those polled also agreed that “cracking down on price gouging” and banning hidden junk fees would be effective at lowering costs.
