Today, government watchdog Accountable.US released a new report exposing the MAGA extremists on the House Administration Committee and their attempts to undermine American democracy with dangerous legislation.

With MAGA Republicans at the helm, the House Administration Committee has made undercutting voting rights and peddling false election conspiracies its core mission. Beyond being made up of election deniers and far-right extremists, the committee is now pushing dangerous legislation to gut our electoral system and undermine American democracy. These MAGA Republicans must be called out for their anti-democracy efforts and radical extremism.”

The new report details how conservatives on the House Administration Committee are using their committee assignment to promote election lies and push MAGA policies undermining American democracy. Though the House Administration Committee often flies under the radar, these members wield significant power due to the committee’s authority over federal elections and election law. This year, under new chairman Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI), the committee’s conservatives have launched countless political stunts and introduced the radical American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, which poses a generational threat to our democracy. Beyond creating barriers for everyday Americans to make their voice heard, the legislation would also encourage voter roll purges and loosen critical campaign finance guardrails to protect dark money interests.

Beyond the MAGA majority’s far-right agenda, the committee is made up of election deniers, extremists, and scandal-ridden representatives. Multiple committee members backed efforts to overturn the 2020 election, voted against certifying President Biden’s electoral win, and opposed a congressional investigation into the attempted insurrection at the Capitol.
