WASHINGTON, D.C. – With Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson’s blessing, today the Republican-led House Ethics Committee refused to release its findings from a “years-long investigation” into President-elect Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, amid allegations of “sexual misconduct and illicit drug use” and other disturbing accusations. Earlier this week the attorney for two of the women who testified to the Committee said that Gaetz had paid the women for “sexual favors” and one of the women also testified that she witnessed Gaetz have sex with her underage friend in 2017. Government watchdog Accountable.US Executive Director Tony Carrk released the following statement in response:

Given what has already been shared about Matt Gaetz’ disgusting behavior involving minors, it shocks the conscience to consider what else is out there that House Republicans are now desperate to cover up in service to Donald Trump. While Trump and House Republicans campaigned on changing Washington, it appears to be the same old story of protecting their own no matter what they’ve done and no matter what’s at stake for everyday Americans.”
