WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the latest move to carry out the oil & gas industry’s agenda from within the Trump administration, President Trump – who received record donations from the industrynominated big oil trade group executive Kathleen Sgamma to run the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management and oversee America’s vast public lands and waters. Sgamma co-authored Project 2025’s chapter on energy policy which has been called a how-to manual for turning millions of acres of public lands into a ‘playground for extractive industries’.

Among other Sgamma lowlights in spreading anti-environment propaganda as Western Energy Alliance president includes fabricated claims the industry’s effect on climate change is “infinitesimal,” that the cause of the Bundy family’s armed takeover of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge was “too much federal ownership of land”, and that Russia wins if the industry isn’t allowed to drill near sites sacred to Native American tribes.  Sgamma will be in good company with Trump Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum who too are extremely cozy with the oil industry and other big polluters.

“The Project 2025 plan for laying waste to America’s public lands and waters in pursuit of record oil and gas profits is now the official Trump administration plan. The more the president surrounds himself with climate-denying oil industry insiders like Kathleen Sgamma, the less say everyday Americans will have in preserving their clean air, water, and public lands while they pay whatever big oil pleases at the pump,” said Accountable.US Executive Director Tony Carrk.

Project 2025 and Trump Agenda are One and the Same: Sgamma joins at least six other Project 2025 alumni that Donald Trump tapped to serve in top posts in his administration despite himself from the effort on the campaign trail. A review from Accountable.US found that the Trump administration has already taken up nearly 20 Project 2025 mandates just in its first weeks.
