WASHINGTON, DC – In a pathetic display of political fealty to President Trump over our national security interests, all but two Republican senators voted to rubber-stamp the objectively flawed FBI Director nominee, Kashyap “Kash” Patel that even former Trump officials called dangerous and prone to breaking the law for President Trump, and despite numerous red flags about Patel’s character and allegiances.

“If and when Trump FBI Director Patel follows through on his threats to trample democratic norms and jail journalists and political critics, the Republican senators who allowed it will be every bit as responsible,” said Tony Carrk, Executive Director of Accountable.US. “If and when Patel undermines our national security interests in service to the foreign adversary-linked companies he got rich consulting for, senators who voted yes will have no one to blame but themselves. If Patel’s total lack of relevant experience to lead the FBI results in national security threats slipping past unnoticed, that will be on every senator who abdicated their basic duties to appease Donald Trump. Senators who disregarded the clear and present danger of Patel’s nomination have only made our nation less safe and more susceptible to foreign influence.”
