COURT WATCH: Every One Of Trump’s Judicial Noms Refuses To Answer This Question Directly

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, a new Accountable.US research report has revealed that every one of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees so far has refused to directly admit that Trump lost the 2020 presidential election. In Senate Judiciary Committee questionnaires, Trump’s judicial nominees offered a range of excuses and obfuscations for why they couldn’t say the simple truth that Trump lost in 2020, both in the electoral college and by millions of votes. Among some of the bizarre responses: Whitney Hermandorfer, who was confirmed to the Sixth Circuit Court Of Appeals said it would be “improper to offer any such comment as a judicial nominee,” while Joshua Divine, who was confirmed to the  U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts Of Missouri blamed his clerkship at the Supreme Court in 2020 for his inability to directly answer. 

While it’s alarming that these judicial nominees refuse to state basic truths that run counter to Trump’s lies – it should surprise no one given the top qualification each nominee has is their fealty to Trump. In his first term, Donald Trump, Republicans in Congress, and their special interest allies teamed to undermine our fundamental freedoms, and impose a far-right ideological agenda. This time, Trump is taking his crusade even further by hand-picking judicial nominees who are unflinchingly loyal to the President and above all else. 

The danger is clear: If these lifetime judicial nominees can’t tell the truth now, how can we expect them to make impartial, fact-based, and sound judgements on the bench?
