Washington D.C. – Following House Speaker McCarthy’s announcement of the Members of the so-called “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government” chaired by subpoena-dodging Congressman Jim Jordan, government watchdog Accountable.US noted at least eight of the Representatives are election deniers who have called into question the validity of one or more elections, or outright challenged a free and fair election from being certified.

The fact this committee is stacked with conspiracy-mongering election deniers makes clear it’s nothing but another political stunt from MAGA extremists desperate to keep the Biden administration from addressing real problems, like profiteering by some of House Republicans’ biggest corporate donors. As if this committee could not be taken less seriously, it’s being chaired by Jim Jordan, best known for his long history of ethics problems and refusing to comply with a Congressional subpoena. Speaker McCarthy found a perfect circus act to try to distract from the MAGA majority’s plans for a staggering 30 percent tax hike on middle class families and deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare benefits for seniors.”

The creation of a committee on the supposed weaponization of the Federal Government was an idea first proposed by Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson.

At least two-thirds of Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s appointees to the committee are election deniers as defined by the Washington Post. Those members include:
