The Heritage Foundation — the group organizing and leading Project 2025 — yesterday hosted a so-called “Weaponization of U.S. Government” symposium. The event featured calls to “abolish the FBI” from right-wing conspiracy theorists, providing a peek into the extremist priorities and far-right allies of the group leading plans for the future of the conservative movement.

Two of Heritage’s featured speakers, Stephen Friend and Garret O’Boyle, were previously tapped to serve as key witnesses for the Republican-led House committee investigating the “weaponization” of the federal government. They were later revealed to be right-wing conspiracy theorists who had been compensated by a top Trump ally.

Key conservatives such as Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Rep. James Comer (R-KY), and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) also joined the Heritage event, delivering remarks highlighting conservatives’ failed impeachment inquiry and sham oversight attempts.
