In Forthcoming Book Roberts Doubles Down On Opposition To Birth Control, IVF 

WASHINGTON, DC –  Heritage Foundation President and Project 2025 leader Kevin Roberts attacks access to birth control, in vitro fertilization (IVF), abortion, childlessness – and dog parks –  in a galley copy of his forthcoming book, Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington to Save America, recently obtained by Media Matters.

The arguments made in this book mirror Project 2025’s anti-freedom agenda – extreme conservatives behind Project 2025 want to have more control over our lives and take away our rights. The MAGA blueprint led by Roberts is plotting a power grab to force a radical, unpopular agenda on everyday Americans, including plans to enact conservatives’ most draconian anti-abortion agenda yet. The positions Roberts stakes out in his book on everything from reproductive freedom to dog parks are way outside of the mainstream and reveal just how far he’d like the next conservative administration to go. I know these guys are a little touchy about being called ‘weird,’ so let’s just say ‘bizarre.’”

Roberts’ attacks on reproductive rights apparently include:

  • Forcing childbirth: Roberts says that having children should not be an “optional individual choice” but rather “a social expectation or a transcendent gift.” 
  • Attacking IVF: Roberts takes issue with IVF, a scientifically-supported means of creating a family, calling reproductive choice methods a “snake strangling the American family.” 
    • He then – ironically – villainizes childlessness as well, claiming “barren societies” become “less and less capable of innovation (a young person’s game) and more and more stuck and decrepit every year.” 
  • Fearmongering contraception: Roberts allegedly describes “contraceptive technologies” as “revolutionary inventions that shape American culture away from abundance, marriage, and family.” He claims that “in the case of contraceptives, we are a society remade according to a research agenda set by the Party of Destruction.”  

Media Matters also reported, “Roberts rails against the Swampoodle dog park in Washington, D.C., for having too much room for dogs to play and not enough for children, blaming this on ‘the antifamily culture shaping legislation, regulation, and enforcement throughout our sprawling government.”’
