WASHINGTON, DC – As members of the conservative Federalist Society gathered for the group’s annual conference in Washington this weekend, government watchdog Accountable.US launched a campaign to expose the ways conservative kingpin Leonard Leo uses the Federalist Society as a hub for corruption, money, and power.

The graphics highlighted Leo’s use of his proximity to powerful and wealthy individuals through the Federalist Society to enrich himself — a scheme that has the right-wing activist facing legal trouble.

As the central figure in the Supreme Court’s corruption crisis, Leonard Leo uses the Federalist Society to manipulate our courts. The Federalist Society isn’t just an organization of like-minded members of the legal community – it’s Leo’s number one tool to push extreme policies and remake American society to match his radical, unpopular agenda,” said Accountable.US president Caroline Ciccone.

Ahead of the convention, Accountable.US released a new report exposing Leo’s pattern of using the Federalist Society as a conveyor between the rich and powerful. The report details how Leo used his position at the Federalist Society to court GOP megadonors, connect them with leading right-wing members of the judiciary, and transform the one-time student group into the driving force behind the conservative court capture campaign.
