Washington, D.C. — A damning Rolling Stone report reveals that Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) was one of the lawmakers involved in planning meetings with the organizers of the pro-Trump rally that preceded the deadly riot and coup attempt at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Today, government watchdog Accountable.US found that back in January, Bigg’s office had denied “any contact with protesters”.

When the dust settled from the deadly assault on democracy at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, Congressman Andy Biggs was clearly desperate to wash his hands of any involvement – but he didn’t count on the seditionists eventually coming clean. His constituents and the nation deserve answers — preferably under oath — as to why he participated in any meetings with extremists that overtly sought to overthrow our democracy, and what he may have promised them in return."

Accountable.US also found that Toyota’s PAC donated $1,000 to Biggs in late February —despite their later pledge to halt donations to election objectors.

RHETORIC: In January 2021 to CNN, a spokesperson for Rep. Biggs issued a statement stating: “He did not have any contact with protestors or rioters, nor did he ever encourage or foster the rally or protests.”

REALITY: As the Rolling Stone reports, “along with Greene, the conspiratorial pro-Trump Republican from Georgia who took office earlier this year, the pair both say the members who participated in these conversations or had top staffers join in included Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas).”
