The CBO reported that Republicans’ plans to slash federal Medicaid funding would strip up to 8 million Americans of their healthcare

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported that congressional Republicans’ plans to slash federal Medicaid funding would strip up to 8 million Americans of their healthcare coverage. Of particular note, 3.3 million Americans would lose access to healthcare if Republicans cap spending in states that have expanded Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act—a plan that Speaker Mike Johnson continues to consider.

Congressional Republicans‘ support for Trump’s budget proposal is a vote to make life harder for millions of Americans by stripping them of their healthcare – all to pay for tax breaks for themselves, their billionaire donors, and the largest corporations. The evidence from the non-partisan CBO makes it abundantly clear: support for the Trump budget proposal is an endorsement of ripping healthcare away from millions of Americans.”

The report affirms concerns that congressional Republicans are willingly cutting health care for children, seniors, Americans with disabilities, and families in order to pay for tax cuts for themselves, their billionaire donors, and the largest corporations.

Ranking Member Brendan Boyle entered the CBO report into the record of today’s House Budget Committee hearing on the “Fiscal State of the Nation.”
