Question remains: Will Johnson’s undermining of Biden administration continue through nominations process?

Accountable War Room to Sen. Johnson: Stop the sham hearings, start scheduling hearings on Biden nominees

Washington D.C. — While Republicans leaders finally acknowledged the reality of President-elect Biden’s victory this week, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) is still sowing doubt in the security of the election in a desperate attempt to deny President-elect Biden’s ability to enter office with the confidence of the American people and with an administration that is fully staffed and able to tackle the biggest challenges facing the country. Though Johnson technically acknowledged Biden as President-elect, he spent the entirety of today’s Homeland Security Committee hearing raising questions about the security of the election and giving air to debunked conspiracy theories and false claims by partisan witnesses, including Trump’s lawyer in Wisconsin who argued his own vote should be thrown out.

“Actions speak louder words, and it’s clear from this sham hearing today that Senator Johnson has not truly accepted President-elect Biden’s victory and will continue his attempts to undermine confidence in our democracy and the incoming administration,” said Mairead Lynn, spokesperson for the Accountable Senate War Room. “Senator Johnson needs to join his colleagues in acknowledging reality — and Senate Republicans must immediately start scheduling hearings for Biden’s Cabinet nominees so Biden can enter office with a staffed Cabinet that is ready to take on the biggest challenges facing our nation.”

Watchdog group Accountable.US recently launched the Accountable Senate War Room to fight back against those lawmakers who seek to overturn the will of the people by standing in the way of the smooth transition of power and the swift approval of nominees to ensure that the government can function and deliver results for the American people.
