Americans for Public Trust Upped Leo Spending — Even With Revenue Cut in Half
WASHINGTON, DC – Accountable.US today obtained Americans for Public Trust’s 2022 990 tax form, revealing that the group paid Leonard Leo’s CRC Advisors $481,000 — nearly 30% of its total expenses.
Americans for Public Trust’s allegiance to Leonard Leo couldn’t be more obvious — even as the group’s revenue is plummeting, it continues to funnel almost a third of its expenses straight to Leo’s firm. With a history of legal complaints and misinformation campaigns, it’s no surprise that APT continues to prop up Leo’s radical, unpopular agenda,” said Accountable.US president Caroline Ciccone.
Key findings from Americans for Public Trust’s 2022 990:
- Americans for Public Trust’s (APT) revenue from contributions and grants has fallen by over half from 2021 to 2022.
- APT paid nearly $481,000 — over 28% of its total expenses — to Leonard Leo’s CRC Advisors in 2022 after paying it nearly $471,000 in 2021.
- This 28% increased significantly from 13.6% of APT’s total expenses funneled to Leo’s CRC Advisors in 2021 and 15.4% in 2020.
