Accountable.US Statement on More Undisclosed Justice Thomas Trips
New reporting today revealed that a Senate Judiciary Committee probe found at least three more undisclosed private jet trips provided by Harlan Crow to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, to destinations including the region near Glacier National Park in Montana and Thomas’ hometown in Georgia.
After receiving millions of dollars worth of gifts in his tenure on our nation’s highest court, it is unconscionable that we’re learning about even more undisclosed luxury trips gifted to Justice Thomas by billionaire buddy Harlan Crow. It’s beyond unacceptable that Chief Justice Roberts has allowed this level of corruption and self-enrichment to continue with no consequence. It’s no wonder public trust in our high court continues to sit at record lows. We urgently need an enforceable code of conduct and serious ethics standards to restore some semblance of credibility and integrity to our Supreme Court.”

Senate Judiciary Democrats, led by Senator Durbin (D-IL), yesterday attempted to take action on the growing ethics crisis by moving Senator Whitehouse’s (D-RI) SCERT Act to the floor via unanimous consent. Republicans on the Committee blocked the bill from advancing.
