Watchdog: Will Kash Patel Also Apologize for Cashing in on Dinesh D’Souza’s Defamatory Ballot Stuffing Allegations Against Innocent Americans?
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sunday, far-right activist filmmaker and Trump-pardoned ex-felon Dinesh D’Souza issued a public statement admitting his film 2,000 Mules, which dubiously claimed the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump, was produced “on the basis of inaccurate information.“ He also apologized to a Georgia man who sued D’Souza and other producers for defamation over made-up accusations of ballot stuffing.
The apology comes on the heels of President-elect Trump’s nomination of Kash Patel for FBI Director, who authored a children’s book, “The Plot Against The King: 2,000 Mules,” with Dinesh as the main character. The book parrots many of the same false claims made in D’Souza’s film, which D’Souza’s producing partner, Salem Media Group, retracted in May 2024 after apologizing for falsely accusing the Georgia man of an illegal voting scheme.
If U.S. Senators believe an FBI director should be held to the highest standards of integrity and ethics, they should be very concerned about Donald Trump’s nominee, Kash Patel. It says a lot about Patel’s character that he has sought to personally enrich himself off Dinesh D’Souza’s election denial claims long after they were debunked and retracted. Kash Patel should join D’Souza in apologizing for his promotion of a conspiracy theory that falsely smeared an innocent man’s reputation while capitalizing on false election claims as part of his extensive grifting operation.”
