WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Accountable.US responded to the nomination of Pam Bondi for Attorney General, citing significant concerns about her record and ability to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

The same person who refused to join a multistate lawsuit against Trump University after receiving a $25,000 donation from Trump’s foundation is now President-elect Trump’s pick for a position where loyalty to him will take precedence over the rule of law. Throughout her career, Bondi has repeatedly faced allegations of putting political and financial interests above her duty to uphold justice."

Caroline Ciccone, President of Accountable.US.

“The Attorney General is supposed to defend justice for everyone, not play favorites with wealthy donors or political insiders,” continued Ciccone. “Bondi’s record raises serious questions about whether she can lead the Department of Justice with the independence and integrity Americans deserve.”

As Florida’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2019, Bondi faced sharp criticism for several controversial decisions. One of the most notable was her office’s handling of Trump University. In 2013, Bondi’s team reportedly considered joining a fraud lawsuit against Trump University but decided against it shortly after Donald Trump’s foundation donated $25,000 to her campaign. The decision sparked widespread criticism and raised serious questions about conflicts of interest.

After leaving office, Bondi’s career choices only added to ethical concerns. She joined Ballard Partners, a lobbying firm with strong ties to the Trump administration, and represented foreign governments, including Qatar. Her decision to work as a lobbyist, combined with her role on President Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment trial, further cemented her reputation as a political insider closely aligned with powerful interests.
