WASHINGTON, DC – Bad news for Medicaid-cutting congressional Republicans: three new polls this week confirmed that Americans are not on board with the Trump-endorsed “Big, Beautiful Betrayal.” Per POLITICO, just 10% of Americans believe Republicans should decrease Medicaid funding; and when given context on the barriers of cumbersome work requirements, support for such measures dropped.

On Monday, Senate Finance Republicans unveiled steep cuts to Medicaid funding as part of their tax and budget package. Their version of the bill goes even further than House-endorsed cuts to Medicaid, despite claims from some senators that Medicaid cuts are not on the table.

This bill isn’t written to benefit most Americans—it’s designed by and for the wealthiest Americans, big businesses, and the very lawmakers who wrote it. New polling this week and Senate Republicans’ attacks against Medicaid have made that more evident than ever. While congressional Republicans hand out a significant tax break to their wealthy donors, millions will see their grocery bills and healthcare costs go up.
