Where Was Alabama AG Marshall Before and After the Capitol Attack?

Alabama Political Reporter: “AG Steve Marshall’s office denied APR’s request for his calendar during the lead up to, and after, the Jan. 6 attack”

Washington, D.C. — Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is refusing to reveal where he was days before the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Alabama Political Reporter details.   

“If Attorney General Steve Marshall has nothing to hide, then he should have no problem informing the public where he was on the days leading up to and following the insurrection. His lack of transparency is deeply concerning and we should be skeptical of anyone willing to continue their association with the individuals involved in inciting the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Marshall must release the records,” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US. 

Confirming Marshall’s whereabouts leading up to and following the insurrection would help establish who knew what and when. Marshall is the chair of the Rule of Law Defense Fund (RLDF), the dark money fundraising arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) that paid for robocalls directing people to the Capitol and encouraging them to “fight back” in the days leading up to the insurrection. Marshall also signed onto a frivolous lawsuit filed by disgraced Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in an attempt to overturn the results of the election, which ultimately failed. 

Earlier this month, Accountable.US launched “Enemies of Progress,” an effort to hold conservative attorneys general like Steve Marshall accountable for preventing progress on the country’s toughest challenges in service to their special interest donors.
