WASHINGTON, DC – Last night, Senate Republicans voted down a resolution to end the sham Trump “Energy Emergency” executive order. The resolution could have put a stop to the administration’s illegal attacks on clean energy and efforts to weaken our bedrock environmental protection laws. Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) introduced the legislation, and all Senate Democrats voted in favor.

“Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress continue to attack affordable clean energy while families see energy prices rise across the country,” said Accountable.US executive director Tony Carrk. “Donald Trump’s bogus executive order underscores the corruption crisis within a Trump administration committed to giveaways for big oil donors and polluters.”

Accountable.US joined over 160 other organizations in a letter supporting the measure.
