Washington D.C. – Following the Washington Post’s reporting that “Ads for more than three dozen brands including major corporations appeared on the Twitter pages of white nationalist accounts in recent days,” government watchdog Accountable.US challenged the companies including Amazon and Uber to pull all Twitter ads or explain to their consumers why they find this development acceptable.

Consumers want companies to stand up to MAGA extremists and white nationalists, not buy ad space on their pages. Predictably, Elon Musk’s decision to welcome back known peddlers of hate and disinformation reopened the floodgates of toxic discourse, so why did these corporations risk being associated with it? Companies have a choice: treat racists and extremists as just another market for their services – or stand with their employees, shareholders and customers by not subsidizing hate and disinformation."
