WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Accountable.US released the following statement in response to the Utah Attorney General’s lawsuit against the federal government challenging the President’s decision to reinstate the boundaries of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments.

Yet again, The Attorney General of Utah has decided to waste taxpayer dollars on an attention-grabbing lawsuit with no real basis in legal reality or substance. President Biden has the power under the Antiquities Act to conserve natural places and he did so legitimately when he re-established the original boundaries of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments to protect this park that is so critical to the environmental and economic health of local communities. While disappointing, this move is hardly surprising given Attorney General Reyes' anti-public lands track record.”
