Two Years Post-Dobbs, Project 2025 Escalates Threat to Reproductive Rights

Today marks two years since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, abandoning nearly five decades of precedent protecting reproductive rights. Now, the Heritage Foundation’s far-right Project 2025 initiative poses a fresh threat to abortion access with plans to roll back rights, even in states where access is currently protected.
In the two years since the Supreme Court threw out decades of precedent and delivered a wrecking ball to Americans’ reproductive rights, the far-right anti-abortion crusade has only intensified. Now, Project 2025 is threatening to go further with an even more extreme vision for reshaping American society – one that threatens to strip away reproductive freedom entirely, from IVF to birth control and more. The MAGA blueprint is plotting a power grab to force a radical, unpopular agenda on everyday Americans, including plans to enact conservatives’ most draconian anti-abortion agenda yet.”

Project 2025, backed by many of the same extremists who pushed for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe, goes beyond Dobbs as it outlines the most restrictive anti-abortion agenda to date – including a potential nationwide abortion ban. Beyond abortion access, Project 2025 threatens access to contraception, IVF, and other fundamental reproductive health services. The manifesto’s proposals threaten to swiftly undo years of progress which have secured expanded reproductive rights and healthcare.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a key member of Project 2025’s advisory board, crucial player in the Dobbs decision, and plaintiff behind the recent mifepristone challenge at the Supreme Court, remains at the helm of the anti-abortion crusade in the courts. The far-right group – with five staffers as named Project 2025 contributors – has waged an extensive campaign to undermine and eliminate access to abortion, touting radical anti-abortion stances, pushing fake science, and frequently using unfounded conspiracies to attack Planned Parenthood.
Longtime anti-abortion activist Leonard Leo’s network has funneled over $50 million into groups affiliated with Project 2025. Recent reporting detailed how Leo led an extreme coalition to plot the downfall of Roe and craft a wide-ranging plan to undermine abortion access nationwide. Leo has played a crucial role in selecting conservative judges for two presidents, challenging abortion rights at various governmental levels, and funding anti-choice advocacy groups.
Government watchdog Accountable.US previously launched a digital ad campaign hitting Project 2025 for its extreme plans to ban abortion, IVF, and more. The ads are part of the watchdog group’s ongoing Expose Project 2025 campaign, focused on revealing the extremists behind the dangerous initiative and highlighting its fringe agenda.
