Washington D.C. – President Donald Trump and unelected bureaucrat Elon Musk’s dangerous cuts to government services aren’t just impacting federal agencies’ ability to do their jobs in Washington, D.C. In states from Nevada to Michigan to Arizona, Americans are being axed from jobs that provide essential services to those in their communities – from providing health care to veterans, operating federal office buildings and courthouses, to helping fellow community members enroll in health care

It all comes at the hands of the wealthiest man in the world, Elon Musk, who with the blessing of Donald Trump, is needlessly gutting the jobs of those who serve their community, all to help pay for his tax cut for the Americans. The biggest loser is Americans who will pay the price with skyrocketing costs, and drastically worse government services.

“Donald Trump and Elon Musks’ cuts are a slap in the face to workers across the country, who get up everyday and serve others in their community,” said Accountable.US Executive Director Tony Carrk. “The fact these unnecessary job cuts are in service of paying for tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, makes it all the more despicable.”

In Arizona:

AZ Central: “Tim Cox works at the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, which is said to be laying off 90% of its workforce. Cox, who is a veteran, said he’s waiting to get a Reduction in Force or “RIF” notice from the government. ‘OFCC is the only federal agency that takes complaints of discrimination from veterans, and this is reducing our agency down to nothing,’ Cox said. ‘In less than two months, this administration has proven itself to be the most anti-veteran administration.’”

In Michigan:

WZZM: “The most recent round of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts has impacted the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). These cuts have also impacted a branch of NOAA, the National Weather Service (NWS). Several hundred employees of NOAA were laid off on Thursday due to the downsizing of the federal government. […] The Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor was also heavily impacted, where about 20% of the lab was cut. There is a field station of this laboratory in Muskegon as well. […] The reduction in staff surely will have implications on the research done on the Great Lakes and how it impacts the environment around us.”

In Georgia:

NBC News: “Almost 1,300 probationary CDC employees were removed from their posts as the Trump administration makes efforts to terminate all probationary workers — typically employees who are recent hires.”

WRDW: “The Trump administration is planning to cut about 72,000 employees from the Department of Veterans Affairs. With a two-campus hospital in Augusta and facilities in outlying counties, the agency is a major employer in the CSRA – although it’s unclear right now how the cuts will affect local employees or the countless veterans who have retired here. The agency employs about 2,700 people across the VA Augusta health system, which includes the two medical centers in Augusta and clinics in Athens, Aiken and Statesboro.”

In Wisconsin:

Wisconsin Public Radio: “James Stancil came to work at the Zablocki Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee just like every other Monday. As a supply technician, he made sure nurses and doctors had the medical equipment they needed, like wound vacuum supplies or infusion pumps that deliver fluids and medications. He cleaned, stored and sterilized equipment used to care for veterans just like him. But by the end of the day, he was out of a job. The 61-year-old veteran served in the Army from 1985 to 1989, spending two years in West Germany along the Iron Curtain. […] ‘This is just a slap in the face, he said. […] Stancil is among 10 employees who were fired at Zablocki and more than 2,400 veterans who have been laid off in recent weeks by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.”

In Minnesota:

Minn Post: “DOGE’s chaotic sweep through federal workforce leaves Minnesotans reeling”

In Nevada:

Fox 5: “Wagstaff recounted it was Valentine’s Day, and he was enjoying a day off. He was on Freemont Street when his phone rang. It was his boss telling him he no longer had a job. Wagstaff, a former VA Administrative Officer who made sure the hospital had necessary medical supplies for the ER, operating room, and clinics, previously served our country 10 years in the Marine Corps including a tour in Iraq.”

In Colorado:

Colorado Public Radio: Unemployment claims from Colorado’s federal workforce are piling up as the new administration slashes government jobs. Since President Donald Trump was sworn into office for his second term last month, 474 of the state’s federal employees have filed for unemployment, according to data compiled by Colorado’s Department of Labor and Employment based on new claims in its system. That’s more than triple the 135 claims from federal employees during the same timeframe last year.
