Trump To Nominate Anti-Public Lands Extremist to BLM Director Position

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, in response to news that President Trump is planning to nominate William Perry Pendley to be the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) director, a Senate-confirmable position, Accountable.US issued the following statement on behalf of its spokesperson, Chris Saeger:

“William Pendley is uniquely unqualified for this position. He has spent his career fighting for a far-right ideology that puts the wishes of extractive industries ahead of the needs of communities that rely on our public lands. As a result, he had dozens of clear conflicts of interest that render him unfit to lead BLM. We urge the Senate to reject his nomination.”

Background:William Perry Pendley, who has been the Acting Director of the Bureau of Land Management since July 2019, has 57 known conflicts of interest, and has a troubling pattern of discrepancies in his ethics recusal arrangement.
