WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Senate Republicans put forward a budget resolution to benefit their billionaire donors at the expense of millions of Americans by cutting funding for Medicaid, veterans’ benefits, and food for children, seniors, veterans, and working parents. They’re using an accounting trick that amounts to smoke and mirrors in an attempt to treat extending $5 trillion in tax cuts as if there is no cost.

Tony Carrk, executive director of Accountable.US released the following statement in response:

Don’t be fooled: the only way Senate Republicans can pay for their tax cuts to the wealthy is by taking a chainsaw to Medicaid, school lunches for kids, and driving up the cost of groceries and housing. The math doesn’t add up, and no parliamentary tricks will change the fact that Trump, Musk, and his allies in Congress are trying to give a huge handout to the ultrawealthy while forcing the rest of us to foot the bill.”
