Hawley wants to pretend he never voted to gut Medicaid, but his record doesn’t lie

WASHINGTON, DC – Just a few weeks after voting for President Donald Trump’s big, beautiful betrayal and signing off on historic cuts to Medicaid, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced new legislation today aimed to reverse those same cuts. Hawley’s Medicaid concerns are well documented, with the Senator going so far as to say he and President Donald Trump “promise” not to cut the program. Despite this, his voting record proves he was willing to break his promise with grave consequences for his constituents.

If Josh Hawley cared about his constituents losing their healthcare, he wouldn’t have voted for Trump’s big, beautiful betrayal and he wouldn’t be spreading claims that the cuts won’t impact Missouri. While 17 million people stand to lose their healthcare, Hawley is trying to distract from his broken promise with flashy legislation that he knows will fall short of saving lives. If he is going to fight as hard to reverse these painful cuts as he did to stop them, working Americans shouldn’t hold their breath that help is on the way.”
