Eric Hargan is already on the Big Pharmas Best Friends list – and now we know he’s extended membership to his wife
Emily Hargan lobbied her husband’s department on behalf of drug and medical device companies
Lobbyist Emily Hargan was traveling on official government business with her husband, Deputy Secretary Hargan, as recently as July 11th.
Washington, DC – Today, Patients Over Pharma released the following statement after STAT News broke the story that Emily Hargan, the wife of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan, was being paid by drug and medical device companies to lobby and influence her husband’s department, despite not having a background in these issue areas.
“We know that family comes first in the Trump Administration, especially when it comes to helping family benefit financially from government influence and positions,” said Eli Zupnick, spokesman for Patients Over Pharma. “This kind of shady influence-peddling may not be surprising in a Department dominated by drug company lobbyists and executives, but it’s exactly the kind of conflict of interest that needs to be rooted out so that people can trust that their government is putting patients and their families ahead of drug companies and their profits.”
Earlier this year, Patients Over Pharma released an updated and expanded version of their BigPharmasBestFriends.org website, which reveals the latest on Trump Administration officials who made millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry, the number of pharmaceutical companies and lobbying groups represented in the Trump administration, the revolving door between the Trump Administration and the pharmaceutical industry, and more.
