Washington, D.C. — In response to The Congressional Western Caucus and House Oversight Republicans’ hearing where lawmakers spewed Big Oil’s unfounded complaints that Biden’s public lands policies are driving up consumer prices, government watchdog Accountable.US pointed to its report revealing that 24 of the top oil and gas corporations made nearly $174 billion in profits in 2021.

During the hearing, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) — who has taken $40,000 from Koch Industries — even went so far as to complain about the American people not being “on our side.” As Republicans complain about Big Oil’s lack of public support, the industry continues to rake in billions and shower its CEOs and shareholders with more money. In quarter three of 2021 alone, 24 of these same top oil and gas corporations made over $74 billion.

If Big Oil is looking to boost their popularity among the public, they can start by cutting down on oil industry greed and quit forcing working families to bear the brunt of higher energy prices. Wealthy oil and gas company executives have a choice to make with their billions of dollars in profits: they can continue lining their own pockets — or they can lower energy prices for their struggling customers."
