Caroline Ciccone Previously Served as Executive Director Before Joining Biden-Harris Administration

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Accountable.US announced Caroline Ciccone has returned to the organization as its new president after serving two years in the Biden-Harris administration. Previously, she was the organization’s Executive Director.  Kyle Herrig, who has served as Accountable’s president since its founding in 2019, will remain active with the organization as a senior advisor.

Ciccone has nearly two decades of strategic communications experience in the public and private sectors.  She comes to Accountable.US from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (Health Care), managing strategic communications for key priorities, including implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act’s health care provisions and policies related to Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and reproductive health care. She has also served at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Small Business Administration, the Democratic National Committee, and in the office of former Senator Barbara Boxer.

Caroline Ciccone is a passionate and committed progressive with impeccable strategic instincts and political judgment,” said Herrig. “Accountable will be in good hands with Caroline at the helm. No one is better prepared to fulfill our mission and lead the organization into the future.”

“I am thrilled to be back,” said Ciccone. “Accountable’s mission is more important than ever. I look forward to working with this amazing team in the weeks and months ahead to further strengthen our evidence-based research practices and sharpen our strategic communications initiatives.”

Herrig founded Accountable.US with a team of committed researchers and communications strategists in 2019. In the years since, the organization has cemented its reputation for impactful advocacy thanks to its investigative research and high-impact communications that expose corruption and hold government officials and corporate special interests accountable. Today, Accountable.US is laser-focused on stopping billionaires, corporations, and the MAGA majority in Congress from dismantling our democracy, undermining our economy, corrupting our judiciary, and destroying our environment.

Among its recent accomplishments, Accountable.US has taken corporations to task for backtracking on their public commitments to withhold support for lawmakers who sought to overthrow the 2020 election, identifying nearly $35 million in contributions to these seditionists. Additionally, the organization pulled right-wing judicial activists Leonard Leo out of the shadows, helping to expose his vast influence in Washington and undermine his work to rebuild the Supreme Court in his likeness. Accountable.US also exposed the role of corporate greed in driving inflation – from price gouging to comments by executives who said, “Inflation is the gift that keeps on giving.”
