Accountable.US Statement on Trump Fast Tracking Giveaway to Big Oil at Expense of Public Lands

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced that the Trump Administration would dramatically shorten the window for review of drilling permit applications on public lands – delivering on a Project 2025 promise to help Big Oil special interests fast-track drilling projects without oversight from Americans. Accountable Executive Director Tony Carrk released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and his Administration just gave another corporate giveaway to the Oil and Gas industry at Americans’ expense. By fast-tracking drilling and mining permits on designated public lands, the Trump Administration is allowing Big Oil executives to start massive drilling projects more quickly and easily, without the oversight and input of regular Americans who depend on preserved land for camping, fishing, and hunting. It’s the latest step toward their ultimate goal to sell off public lands to the highest bidder. Communities deserve a say in the stewardship of their public lands. Instead, Trump once again sold out the families to help his billionaire oil donors.”
