Accountable.US Files IRS Complaint Against USATransform, Citing Ziklag’s Problematic Political Activities
Today, Accountable.US filed a formal complaint with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) against USATransform, alleging illegal partisan political activities under its subgroup, Ziklag. The complaint highlights Ziklag’s repeated, seemingly political activities, including a recent event featuring Senator JD Vance, which took place on September 28, 2024 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. The Courage Tour – organized by Christian political activist Lance Wallnau and funded by Ziklag – was promoted as a non-partisan event. However, Vance’s participation and the promotional materials distributed by the Trump-Vance campaign seem to indicate clear partisan political activity. These actions further reinforce Ziklag’s ongoing efforts to influence the 2024 election, as recently exposed by ProPublica.
Ziklag’s repeated attempts to push the boundaries of federal tax law governing 501(c)(3) organizations demand an IRS investigation to ensure that the group is following the same rules as everyone else. The IRS has a responsibility to ensure that charitable organizations operate for the public good, not for private political gain. Organizations like Ziklag cannot be allowed to undermine our democratic processes under the guise of charity.”

The complaint also details Ziklag’s broader involvement in influencing the 2024 election, including efforts to mobilize Republican voters in key swing states and finance ballot initiatives aimed at driving voter turnout. According to ProPublica, Ziklag’s activities are part of a larger strategy to alter voter rolls and sway the election in favor of Donald Trump.
Accountable.US has urged the IRS to assess penalties for political expenditures made by Ziklag and USATransform, and to consider revoking the organization’s tax-exempt status.
